Maria LoBiondo believes that a story is a gift from heart to heart between teller and listener. A professional writer and editor, her love of fairy, folk, and wisdom tales has been life-long, although studies leading to her bachelor’s degree in education from Boston College and years as a preschool teacher deepened her appreciation.

She has told stories for nearly 20 years at schools, libraries, churches, and the New Jersey Storytelling Festival. She is a member of the Princeton Storytelling Circle and an affiliated artist with Storytelling Arts, Inc.

Storytelling Arts, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing stories and the power of storytelling to classrooms, educators, and community organizations. Founded in 1996, Storytelling Arts’ professional storytellers have had an extensive impact on learning, teaching, and community building through long-term programs that are particularly effective for meeting the needs of low-income, special needs, and at-risk populations.

www.storytellingarts.net Storytelling Arts, Inc. mission is to preserve, promote, and impart the living art of storytelling to develop literacy, strengthen communities, and nurture the human spirit.

Our professional storytelling programs have been in schools, juvenile detention centers, youth shelters and community organizations throughout New Jersey — programs that serve both teachers and students by opening the door to literacy in a unique and resonant way. Programs include assemblies and performances for large audiences, individual mentoring sessions for teachers and storytellers, in-class residencies for schools and community agencies, and professional development workshops. SAI tailors its programs to meet the needs of each site, considering characteristics of the population served and goals of the program. For more information on our storytellers and programs, visit our website or contact Carrie Wainwright, Executive Director, at 609-430-1922 or by email at info@storytellingarts.net
