Since childhood Laura Kaighn has loved the power of words and the wonders of nature. Then, in 1995 she discovered the ideal avenue for her eclectic energies. With programs known for their blend of stuff, stories, facts and fun, Laura’s mounting repertoire has helped her discern the commonalities in stories, what she believes can nurture connections between peoples. “No matter what the packaging,” she says, “we all hold gifts within us.”
Laura Kaighn specializes in American Indian, Animal and Nature stories, Celtic and Dragon Lore, Celestial and Adventure tales, Greek mythology, Scary stories and more. She also performs original pieces and can tailor a program for any group. Through her writer’s services and writing and storytelling workshops, Laura attempts to inspire creativity and a wonder for words with children and adults alike. Venues for her performances have included schools, libraries, campgrounds, museums, churches, parks, historical sites, festivals, and Earth Day celebrations.
Quotes: “…Makes you feel as though she is telling the story directly to you. …as though something special is about to begin and does. Her performance is riveting.” Maria McIntyre, Program Coordinator: Irish American Cultural Society of South Jersey.
“Highly Entertaining. Informative, skillful presentation of the subject material. A superb storyteller.” Emily Cummins, Storyteller-in-Residence, Gloucester County Library System (Ret.). "You are absolutely unique! I enjoyed every varied aspect of your storytelling program at the Cinnaminson Library. I also enjoyed your narrative interaction with the children. You integrate their offerings so pertinently ...I'm sure they feel very special." Gwendolyn Jones, Storyteller and founder of The Garden State Storyteller's League.
