Cuba: Caribbean Treasure, Cuentos and Tales

Join the Garden State Storytellers League as they present, Cuba: Caribbean Treasure, Cuentos and Tales. Free Admission - Open to the Public (for adults and young adults) 

Featuring Cuban memoirs, folktales, poetry with castanets, and photographs. Enjoy the Cuban folktale "Martina the Beautiful Cockroach" and participate in the GSSL storytelling-style "wedding" of Martina, the beautiful cockroach bride, and Perez, the mouse groom. Cuban-style refreshments and a salsa dance lesson are all part of the fun. Enjoy a GSSL storytelling-style "trip" back in time to the Old Havana Cigar Factory to role play torcedores (cigar rollers) and lectors (readers who read aloud news and literature), featuring "One Today" by Cuban poet Richard Blanco and excerpts from "The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway.
